Your painting questions, answered

Here are a few things customers ask before getting started. If there’s something else you’d like to know, call or text us, or include it with your estimate request.

Estimates and quotes

Can we get an estimate from photos?
Yes. Photos and a few details usually give us enough information for a preliminary estimate. Send wide shots, close-ups of any damage, rough sizes if available and a description of what you’d like done. We’ll let you know if we need more information.
How much does painting cost?
The size of the job, condition of the surfaces, access and finish all affect the price. Start with a free photo estimate. If you’d like to proceed, we’ll arrange a site visit and provide a written quote for the agreed work.
Do you visit before providing a quote?
Yes. We generally start with a preliminary estimate from photos, then arrange a site visit if you’re comfortable with the estimated range. That lets us confirm the surfaces, access and scope before providing a formal written quote.
Do you take a deposit?
Yes. Your written quote sets out the deposit, payment schedule and booking arrangements before you accept.
Do you take on commercial work?
Yes. Residential painting is our main focus, and we also take on commercial projects. Send us the details so we can discuss suitability and availability.

During the job

How long will the work take?
Timing depends on the size of the job, preparation, drying times and weather. We’ll give you an expected timeframe with your quote and keep you updated if anything changes.
Can we stay home while you work?
Often, yes. We’ll discuss access, room use and any ventilation or drying requirements before starting, then plan the work to keep disruption manageable.
Who will work on our home?
Aaron personally manages every job and works on the tools on most of them. When extra hands are needed, we bring in qualified painters we trust. Aimee looks after enquiries, scheduling and quoting, and we remain your contacts throughout the job.
Do you protect furniture and floors?
Yes. We cover floors and protect furniture and surrounding surfaces in the work area. Before starting, we’ll agree on anything that needs moving and what you need to put away.
How many coats do you apply?
Typically, two topcoats following the appropriate preparation and priming. The surface, colour change and coating system can affect what’s needed. Your quote sets out the agreed work.
Do you supply the paint?
Yes. We supply the products included in your quote, using suitable systems from Wattyl, Resene and Haymes.
Can you help us choose colours?
Yes. We can help you narrow down colours and sheen levels, considering the light, existing finishes and look you want. We recommend viewing samples in your own space before making a final choice.

Workmanship and service area

Does your work come with a warranty?
Our written workmanship warranty provides 5 years for interior painting, 3 years for exterior painting and 1 year for clear and oiled timber finishes, subject to the terms and exclusions in your quote. We’ll confirm the cover that applies to your project before you accept.
Are you insured?
Yes. We can provide a current certificate of currency on request.
What areas do you cover?
We’re based in Nambour and work across the Sunshine Coast and surrounding areas, from Gympie to the Glass House Mountains. Call or text if you’d like us to confirm your suburb.

Spray finishing and cabinets

Is a cabinet respray cheaper than replacement?
It can be, particularly when the cabinetry is sound and you’re keeping the existing layout. The cost depends on the material, condition, preparation and finish. We’ll assess your cabinets and provide a quote so you can compare your options.
How long does a cabinet respray take?
Timing depends on the kitchen, the preparation required and the coating system. We’ll explain the expected schedule, when you can use the kitchen and any curing or care requirements.
How do you control overspray?
We mask and protect surrounding surfaces and contain the spray work area. Before starting, we’ll explain how the work will be carried out and what access restrictions are needed.
Can you spray our front door?
Often, yes. We’ll assess the door and existing finish, then discuss whether spraying or hand finishing is the best approach.

Dustless sanding and ceilings

Is dustless sanding completely dust-free?
No. Extraction captures much of the dust at the source, but some can still escape. We combine it with protection and cleaning to help keep dust under control.
Can you sand while we’re living there?
Often, yes. We’ll discuss the work area, access and any precautions before starting, so you know which rooms can remain in use.
Why do you recommend low-sheen ceilings?
We often recommend low sheen for its cleanable surface and the way it catches light. It can highlight surface irregularities, so we consider the ceiling’s condition, the room’s lighting and your preference. Flat finishes are also available.

Roofs, timber and other services

Do you work on metal and tile roofs?
Yes, subject to the roof’s condition, suitability and access. We confirm the scope before quoting.
Can we change the roof colour?
Often, yes. We’ll discuss suitable coating and colour options for your roof before the work is agreed.
Can old timber be restored?
Often it can, depending on its condition and previous coatings. We’ll explain what’s achievable before you commit to the work. Our timber restoration service covers doors and joinery; floors and decks are outside our scope.
What is French wash?
It’s a layered, hand-applied decorative paint finish with soft tonal variation and an aged appearance. We’ll show you sample tones and discuss how the effect could work in your space.
Can you repair cracked cornices?
Yes. We assess the cracking and carry out suitable repairs before painting. If the cracking suggests an underlying issue, we’ll discuss it with you. Ongoing movement can cause cracks to return.
Will pressure washing damage the surface?
Too much pressure or an unsuitable method can cause damage. We assess the surface first and adjust the approach to suit. If pressure washing isn’t appropriate, we’ll explain that before proceeding.
